MERLE'S LATEST HIT! - HAGGARD MARIJUANA SET TO CLIMB THE CHARTS

“At the time I wrote ‘Okie From Muskogee,’ I didn’t smoke. I had been brainwashed like most of America about what marijuana would and wouldn’t do. But if a guy doesn’t learn anything in 50 years, there’s something wrong with him. I’ve learned a lot about it, and America has, too.” - MH in 2005   Merle Haggard, is considered by many, if not most country critics of note, to be the #1 Country musician of all time; singer-song writer, performer and guitar player. The country legend's not letting a little thing like death stop him from making waves now.  Haggard continued touring well into his 70's, singing self portrait songs like "the running kind", which essentially admits, for better or worse, that he's more at home ... on the road.  Now that he's passed, that doesn't mean there are no more hits .... as a new strain of Marijuana is about to hit the market bearing the Haggard influence and label.   Uncle Merle, at one time was dead set against marijuana.  Mr. Haggard was no shrinking violet however, as he did major time for too many episodes of drunken disorder and vandalism.  He straightened out his life while in prison - after watching an in-house performance by the very naughty Johnny Cash.  Shorly thereafter, a close mate was executed for murder and Merle finally charted his course to steer clear of the law and to make something of himself by doing his music. "I raised a lot of cane back in my younger days, while moma used to pray my crops would fail."   Haggard lyrics, they don't write em like that anymore... Merle wrote Okie from Muskogee from a point of well-meaning ignorance.  The country stars of his day were notorious for taking amphetamines, "pain killers" which were really heroin in disguise and booze by the truckload.  Then came the cross-over.  Guys like Willie Nelson invaded the scene and shared his philosophy about weed; why its good and why those other drugs are so bad. Today, son Marty Haggard shares stories about his Dad and Willie smoking weed.  Marty as it turns out is a THC hyper-responder, in that the effects are magnified to the point where he can't function.   "I had to crawl out of the room while navigating around the bodies of my dead ancestors." - Marty Haggard Mardy apparently doesn't know that high-CBD strains of hemp won't cause this nightmare effect, while being relaxing and very medicinal.  Terpenes also appear to modulate THC and the effects of the other cannabinoids to mitigate psychosis and enhance therapeutic benefits. The new strain is called Merle’s Girls—named after a soccer team sponsored by Haggard and developed in conjunction with Colorado Weed Co.  According to Colorado Weed Co., Merle’s Girls hopes to eventually expand into Oregon and Washington with an eye on the medicinal market. This variety is a Sativa, a favorite of MH, as he said it kept him going, kept the creative juices flowing and allowed him to keep playing, and playing very well we might add. "I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?" -  Willie Nelson http://www.thepoliticalinsider.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/1willie.jpg   “Prison is the biggest business in America, if you got the money, you can build a prison out in Nevada and it’ll be filled before you finish building it. That’s a fact, and that’s a shame. Marijuana laws are still in the books to help fill the prisons.”  - MH on the extreme evil in government today He wasn’t always a marijuana advocate.  Just as Haggard did a 180 in the early 60's and left prison for good, in 2015 he released a pot-friendly duet - in 100% opposition to the anti-hippie anthem, Okie from Muskogee with fellow ganja-former Willie Nelson.      420EvaluationsOnline: Within California, If you want to try Merle's Girls at your local dispensary, you'll need a medical marijuana card and licensed doctor's recommendation.  An online application is much easier than the average visit to a clinic where patients may be confronted with a not so likable person that presents a long questionnaire, be asked embarrassing irrelevant questions, be upsold to buy other medical service.  So instead of wasting your lunch break, why not apply online? "He warmed up to cannabis in his later years after a doctor recommended medical marijuana to help him relax."  - Daughter Jenessa Haggard-Bennett   Merle's Girls is a Sativa, which is known to have the following characteristics; Energizing, stimulating and uplifting Increases focus and creativity   Best for use in daytime  Balances the immune system Reduces nausea Stimulates appetite  Curbs depression Relieves headaches and migraines Relaxes muscles Relieves pain And more...   420EvaluationsOnline complies with the Medical Board of California's guidelines for Telehealth services.  Our documents are accepted by all licensed cannabis distribution outlets: cannabis clubs, dispensaries, clinics and delivery services.  Your legal status can be verified upon demand 24/7 by internet app or phone. THE TOP 10 STRAINS IN COLORADO - 2016

"#1 Blue Dream, the most consumer's number one choice,  It's not a fickle strain, It's not very susceptible to mold and pests, and the common stresses on a plant." - John Manlove, Sales director Tradi   Recreational marijuana has been legal in Colorado now for over two years, and the marketing data about customer preferences is starting to roll in.  Blue Dream was also Washington State's pick of the litter.  What makes a strain popular?  In the recreational marketplace it is the effects.  The THC content alone does not explain Blue Dream's popularity.  THC content come in around 20% with other cannabinoids such as CBD present in trace quantities (0.1%ish).  Based on these results alone, there is nothing special about this variety.  However, it is now recignized that the terpenes, the fragrant compounds that account for the blueberry aroma play an important role in how THC effects the body.  It turns out that Blue Dream is high in myrcene, terpinolene and caryophyllene and each of these cannabis constituents have many medicinal properties in their ownright, while modulating THC in ways that have yet to be fully understood.  . MARIJUANA BUSINESS HAS ATTRACTED TOP SEEDS - HARVARD GRADS - ANALYTICA BRAINIACS The online marijuana distribution network - Tradiv, and cannabis data specialists BDS Analytics, have partnered  to write a report on the most popular marijuana strains Colorado.  They are putting together    “Tradiv is a refreshing development in the Cannabis industry. GUIDELINES FOR DOSING WITH MEDICAL CANNABIS - ROUTES OF ADMINISTRATION

The process of any therapy is best guided by a medical doctor or health care professional with the acumen, proper training and experience.  These days, medical marijuana is increasingly recommended and often substituted for prescription drugs that have serious side-effects and addictive properties.  In some cases, such as epilepsy and other neurological, no other medicine provides  a good quality of life solution. Cannabis medicines are now commonly used in conjunction with other medicines to control pain, inflammation, anxiety and other symptoms. The general public and many medical doctors still don't know that cannabis based medicines (CBM) can be delivered effectively to patients in virtually every way.  Asthmatics, for example, can now inhale cannabis medicine with a vape, which of course, is a kind of vaporizer.  In fact, smoking a joint may soon be the least common method of dose medical marijuana.   Routes of administration for Cannabis based medicines are: Inhalation Oral Topical Sublingual Injection MEDICAL CANNABIS - RATIONAL GUIDELINES FOR DOSING Summary - How to maximize medicating effects and minimize undesirable effects. - Donald Abrams, MD, Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of California, et al.- 2004. This drug dosing construct is not unique to cannabis.  A patient-determined, self dosing model is recommended. This self-titration model is acceptable given the variables affecting administration as well as the low toxicity of cannabis. Many other drugs have relatively low toxicity and high dosing ceilings (gabapentin being one notable example) and are commonly titrated (adjust the amount of medicine) effectively. Inhalation; an experienced cannabis smoker can titrate and regulate dose to obtain the desired acute (medicating) effects and minimize the undesirable effects. Each puff delivers a discrete dose of cannabinoids to the body. Puff and inhalation volume changes with phase of smoking, tending to be highest at the beginning and lowest at the end of smoking a cigarette. Comment: A vape is recommended to all medical marijuana users preferring the inhalation route. Oral ingestion of THC or cannabis has quite different pharmacokinetics than inhalation. The onset of action is delayed and titration of dosing is more difficult.     "In a two day study, on one occasion, she was given a mixture of intravenous THC + CBD and on the other day a female patient was administered pure THC. With the CBD mix she was euphoric, coherent and happy. In contrast with the pure THC, she was paranoid, couldn’t form thoughts, couldn’t remember things, and was extremely mentally uncomfortable with how she was feeling." - The Beckley Foundation   420EvaluationsOnline Medical Notes: These days THC alone is not recommended for most patients.  Rather CBD:THC in a 1:1 ratio for THC tolerant individuals appears to provide far superior medical benefits to most patients while psychoactivity responses tend to be overwhelmingly better at reducing anxiety, enhancing the feeling of well being with minimal feelings of psychosis.  Also non psychoactive medicines containing CBD and little THC are becoming particularly popular in the treatment of children, elderly, epileptics and hard-to-treat patients.   Table source   INHALATION - SMOKING Examples: Joints, inhaler, vapes, pipes, flame, dabb. Traditionally dried cannabis flowers (buds) or leaves are smoked.  Concentrated oily marijuana Hash and kief are also used throughout the modern and ancient world. Inhaled medications are generally absorbed very quickly, and act both locally and systemically in a few minutes,  Correct technique using inhalation devices is necessary to control the dose amount. Some medications can have an unpleasant taste or cause irritation in the mouth. Inhalation delivers the medicine drugs to the nervous system and brain with little dilution by the circulatory system.  Inhalation of psychoactive substance may cause addiction in certain individuals.  Even so, marijuana ranks lowest in addictive properties, much lower than alcohol, cocaine, heroin, nicotine or even caffeine. Advantages: Easy, fast. Disadvantages: odor on breath and after-taste with some methods/medicines. Dose range: THC and/or CBD - 2-100  mg / day. Recommended Practice: Using vapes with the right concentrate (medicine) will afford superior benefits without appreciable odor or aftertaste. Effects: Begins in a few minutes and lasts about two hours plus or minus. Dosage: Start with 2 mg, Inhale fully but naturally;  you don't need to hold the smoke/vapor in your lungs …and exhale in a relaxed way. Wait a few minutes. and take another 2mg "hit" if your symptoms are still present. As you learn about your response, more medicine can be used right away, and then add on from there. Preheat the vaporizer to the temperature recommended by the manufacturer. Insert a measured amount of dried (cured) cannabis flower or extract into a vaporizer.  Press the on button and then simply inhale. The cannabis is heated to a temperature below combustion but still hot enough to release the active ingredients: the cannabinoids and terpenes.  Vaporizers are now available in a wide array of shapes and sizes, from exotic units to pocket/purse pens.  Note that Vapes are more efficient than smoking a joint, they're safer and you'll  be saving a lot of money in the long run.  Vapor can be so clean that the user sometimes thinks they never "got anything:.  Rookies can be easily fooled into over-medicating and should wait 10 minutes before dosing again. For most patients, the effects of smoking dried cannabis are felt almost immediately, but soon begin to diminish. Depending on the individual patient, and the cannabinoid content and potency of the cannabis strain, effects wear off almost completely within 90 minutes to 4 hours. I DON'T WANT TO SMELL LIKE A POTHEAD Will smoking or vaping make me smell like a pothead?  The answer, yes, BUT only if you smoke joints in massive quantity.   These days, most patients use a vape with good cannabis product that produces negligible odors.  Marijuana smoke may be harmful to lungs but only in large, abusive - non-medical type amounts.  In moderate use, one or two joints per day, the effects on the lungs appears to be negligible or are even therapeutic.   "After exercise-induced bronchospasm, placebo marijuana and saline were followed by gradual recovery during 30 to 60 min, whereas 2.0 per cent marijuana and isoproterenol caused an immediate reversal of exercise-induced asthma and hyperinflation." - PubMed CAFFEINE MORE ADDICTIVE THAN POT - RODENT STUDY "One difference between caffeine and THC, however, is that caffeine more reliably produces abuse-related effects in preclinical rodent models." - Dr. Lazenka,THC Researcher Medical Marijuana Dispensary - Fully Stocked SAFETY - LAB TESTED MARIJUANA IS THE BEST WAY TO GO There is little point in medicating and poisoning oneself at the same time.  Mold, pesticides and residual solvents are serious contaminants too often found in random testing. When using any kind of cannabis medicine, products should be free of residual solvents (used to extract medical ingredients), pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, mold, fungus and other toxic components.   The cannabinoid profile should be measured using liquid chromatography (LC) to see that the THC, CBD and other cannabinoids are present in the appropriate therapeutic quantity. Overdosing is a possibility with both THC and CBD but are low-risk as compared to most other medications.  The beauty of cannabis based medicines is that their toxicity and side effects are much lower than your standard pharmaceutical preparation.  THC overdose can famously result in temporary psychosis and scares the living hell out of the victim.  CBD is well-tolerated in humans and overdose is very uncommon.   Side-effects are limited to minor complaints. "Several studies suggest that CBD is non-toxic in non-transformed cells and does not induce changes on food intake, does not induce catalepsy, does not affect physiological parameters (heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature), does not affect gastrointestinal transit and does not alter psychomotor or psychological functions. Also, chronic use and high doses up to 1,500 mg/day of CBD are reportedly well tolerated in humans."  PubMed ORAL AND EDIBLE MEDICAL CANNABIS - RECOMMENDED Examples: Edibles using cooking oils & butter, capsules. alcoholic beverages. Advantages: Easy to take, long lasting, soothing and smooth. Raw cannabis contains THC-A,a non-psychoactive but medicinal form of THC. Baking converts THC-A into psychoactive THC (d9).  So raw and baked can deliver non-psychoactive or psychoactive effects respectively. Disadvantages: Bitter, unpleasant taste for some palates. THC overdose is possible so start small when using THC high products. Dose range: 2 - 100 mg Side Effects: Eating too much medical cannabis (high in THC) can cause extreme drowsiness, dizziness, inability to concentrate, diminished ability to focus, rapid heartbeat, increases or decreases in blood pressure, need for sleep, and feelings of euphoria. Balanced forms with equal quantities of THC:CBD or CBD alone are recommended for THC intolerant individuals. "Dr. William Courtney, a juicing guru of fame, recommends ingesting fifteen leaves and a couple of big buds daily." The oral route is generally the most convenient and cheapest of drug delivery systems. In the majority of cases, medical marijuana tends to sooth and balance the intestinal tract, particularly the large intestine, were inflammation can be dramatically reduced as seen in many documented cases of Crohn's.  However, drugs, including marijuana can cause gastrointestinal tract irritation in some.  Medication that comes in tablets or capsules form tends to be delivered more rapidly than edibles such as brownies - where absorption is time-released. "Juicing raw cannabis is the Crohn’s Disease health cure that Kristen claims saved her life. Diagnosed at 16 with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, the illness quickly turned into an auto immune disorder that left her bedridden for four years. Finally, the teen and her mother began to look for alternative treatments. Kristen began juicing raw cannabis, and after a month she claims her pain stopped and her recovery began. She is now an advocate for medical marijuana treatment for fellow sufferers."   -  Kristen Courtney Cannabis is usually infused into butter and oil that is substituted into a great variety of recipes . Edibles take 20 minutes to an hour to take effect while inhalation takes only a few minutes. Doses can be difficult to judge because absorption rates vary depending on the individual and medicine.  The condition of the digestive tract and the pre-intake of other foods and beverages also affect absorption, release and effect. The easiest way to control an edible dose is to take a known amount of THC and or CBD on a relatively empty stomach, perhaps with afternoon tea or before breakfast. Another way is to munch a little bit, and then wait an hour and gauge the effect before eating more.  Through trial and effect, the correct, comfortable dosage can be established.   Many patients with cancer, aids, chronic pain, nervous system disorders often find that oral administration provides greater relaxation and calming cerebral effects than any other method. Oral cannabis meds are particularly popular for those with medical conditions that interfere with a good night's sleep,  Again, it is the type of cannabis, rate of delivery and dose that are the main factors in the result.   Many patients new to medical marijuana are looking for a solution.  They were often taking several to a half dozen or more types of different meds and not getting the results; the quality of life they wanted. The reason they turned to cannabis in the first place was because the cocktail was not as effective as they'd like and / or, the side effects became too much to handle.   Cannabis tinctures have been around forever.  Tinctures allow medication without any psychoactive effects. Before prohibition in the 1930's US Pharmacopeia listed tinctures as a preferred form of application.  Marijuana infused whiskey was also a popular choice as some people would imagine. Today low-dose ethanol cannabis tinctures are readily available in states with legalized medical marijuana. MANAGING ORAL DOSES Start with ¼ of the producer's recommended “dose”of the herbal medicine. Wait an hour and observe/analyze the effects - with a licensed health care professional if possible. Consume another ¼ dose if required, wait another hour, analyze effects. Consume the remainder of the dose, if required. Analyze results the next day and discuss optimal dosage with your health care professional. Types of edibles: Smoothies, juice, baked goods, sauces, teas, soda, whiskey, tinctures, energy bars, yummy bears, nut mixes, ice cream, crackers, popcorn, the list goes on. TOPICAL APPLICATION - RECOMMENDED Examples: Creams, lotions, oils and patches. Advantages: Topical medicines act mostly at the site of harm, high levels of patient satisfaction, easy to use, slow but long lasting effect, non-invasive, non-psychoactive. By delivering drugs almost directly to the site of action, the risk of systemic side effects is minimized. However, skin irritation can result in a minority of patients. Disadvantages: slow absorption.  The dose of some forms such as creams or lotions, the dosage is difficult to control. Dose range: 10 to 200 mg. "CBD oil helps with the healing process and inflammation, stuff like that. So you want to get these for before and after the fights, training. It’ll make your life a better place." - Mixed Martial Artist - Nate Diaz Topical herbal medicines are applied directly to the skin or muscles. Topicals include lotions, salves, balms, sprays, oils, and creams.  Patient testimonials suggest that they are tremendously effective for skin conditions like psoriasis, joint diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, migraines, restless leg syndrome, spasms, common muscle stress and soreness. Unlike inhalation and oral routes , topicals are 100% non-psychoactive- you could bathe in them and never get stoned.   PATCHES - TRANSDERMAL APPLICATION Cannabinoids like THC and CBD are fat and alcohol soluble.  Formulations containing cannabinoids, like THC and CBD or other cannabinoids pass from the patch through the skin into the blood. While patches are relatively rare right now, this route of administration might become the most popular and effective choice of all.  Just slap on a patch and go.  Some medication tends to be relaxing and other types invigorating.  People with chronic conditions that require constant medication to maintain their quality of life can start their day with a "day patch" and finish off with a "night patch", counting their blessings all the while. How to use: Just apply the patch to a clean, dry and probably hairless skin surface.  Popular places to apply a patch are the inner-wrist area, top of foot or ankle. This method is readily accepted by patients that do not want to inhale cannabis medicine. MEDICAL MARIJUANA SUPPOSITORIES - HEAVY DUTY THERAPY The use of cannabis medicines delivered via suppositories is uncommon but it may become an an especially effective route to treat certain difficult to treat conditions, like cancer and organ insults. Advantages: Efficient, fast and long lasting, may be particularly effective for liver, pancreas and internal organ injury resulting from cancer and other causes.   Cons: Inconvenient to administer "on the road".  Refrigeration of medication is required. Hemorrhoid sufferers suffer. Dosage: Suppositories come in various sizes, 1 or 2 grams usually with varying amounts of active ingredient and type.  Bum pills can be cut in half to reduce dose.   "There is a “watershed” of veins in the rectum.  Collectively they are called the rectal or hemorrhoidal plexus.  The majority of the venous flow ( after absorbing cannabinoids ) goes by way of the superior rectal vein into the portal vein, while the inferior veins flow into the vena cava.  The portal vein collects most all venous return from the pancreas to the rectum with all the nutrients and enzymes for digestion) where the blood goes on to the liver for what is called first-pass metabolism.  The majority of the THC is converted to 11-OH-THC, a similarly psychoactive molecule.  The vena cava on the other hand goes back to the heart and general circulation before it more slowly reaches the liver for metabolism. "  -  Jeff Hergenrather MD   HOW TO USE Patients insert a small cone-shaped waxy ball of cannabis meds into their rectum, where it is absorbed via the lower colon into the blood . This method is perhaps controversial and less palatable than other ways to medicate, but some patients thank god for it.  It is really not difficult, just put on some gloves, lie on your side, and insert the suppository about 2 inches into the anus . Squeeze sphincter muscles and don't move for a few minutes. Then you're good to go. There are also syringe deliverable suppository medicines too.  Whatever floats your boat.   SUBLINGUAL Examples: Essential Oils and Tinctures. Advantages: Easy, fast, effective. easy to control the dose, prefered route for children. Disadvantages: Hard to get the right medicine, often expensive. Dose range: 1 to 100 mg. Sublingual means drug administration through the tissue under the tongue.  Some patients find that either oral or sublingual delivery is the best choice for their conditions. Many medicines are designed for sublingual administration, including cardiovascular drugs, steroids, barbiturates, opioids with poor gastrointestinal bioavailability, enzymes, vitamins and minerals. A cannabis tincture is a highly concentrated form of marijuana dissolved in alcohol (ethanol), glycerin or MCT oil such as coconut. Dosage must be carefully monitored, it takes only a few drops to achieve a therapeutic effect. Patients start with a few drops sprayed or squirted under the tongue.  Users monitor the effect and take another few drops, if required.  In the beginning stages, the process, of course, should be done at home and be directed by a licensed health care professional.  Tinctures can also be mixed with beverages l but the potency and effect is more unpredictable than simple under the tongue administration. INJECTION - NOT GENERALLY RECOMMENDED Examples: Hypodermic needle, IV drip. Advantages: Fast, potent medication for extreme cases. Disadvantages: Inconvenient, expensive, can require assistance, pain. Dose range:2 to 100 mg. Injections can be intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM), and subcutaneous (SC).  Injections meds take effect rapidly - in 15–30 seconds for IV, 10–20 minutes for IM, and 15–30 minutes for SC. Medication is more or less 100% bioavailable.  Cannabis is used for AIDS/HIV, Cancer, chronic pain sufferers and anti-inflammatory conditions to improve feelings of well being, overcome anxiety, reduce inflammation, improve appetite and manage pain.  People already on IV can conveniently use Cannabis based medicines by simplifying the appropriate concentrate to their drip.  Of course this procedure must be approved and done by a licensed health care professional.   "After being diagnosed with cancer, Beverly Hills celebrity Cheryl Shuman began taking a cocktail of medications and up to 27 morphine tablets a day in a bid to overcome the disease. However, after learning about cannabis oil, Cheryl started to treat herself. She says the treatment cured her in 90 days and remains in remission to this day."  -  Cheryl Shuman DABBING - NOT RECOMMENDED Dabbing is a crude and rude but somewhat effective way to medicate with cannabis concentrates such as hash oil, budder, shatter, wax, etc. Dabbing devices vary but basically the medicine is placed on metal and heated to a very high temperature, perhaps with a butane torch and the vapor is inhaled.  This method is not recommended because compounds created at a high temperature can be carcinogenic and expensive medicine can volatilize and wasted.  Vaping is the superior technique in every way.   420EvaluationsOnline:  To access and medicate with the right form of medical marijuana, Californian's need to have a licensed medical doctor's recommendation to use, possess and buy.  Fortunately, the California Board of Medicine allows patients to conveniently get a doctor's recommendation via the internet.  We at 420EvaluationsOnline specialize in quick and affordable recommendations  - the process is 100% online.  An operator is standing by from 7 am to 11 pm every day to process your request.  Click here to get a doctor's evaluation NOW. JESSE VENTURA LAYS DOWN THE LAW

"I never really had a plan in life. To quote Yogi Berra, when I came to a fork on the road, I took it." On September 6, 2016, Jesse Ventura published a powerful book that tells THE STORY of Marijuana in the United States, from the days of Ben Franklin to today's tyrannical Federal government. Mr. Ventura exposes the truth about America's contradictory stance on Marijuana and explains why the Bush's, Clinton's and Obama's were wrong to back the War on Drugs, among many other wars.   Unless you have been living a cave for the last thirty years, you must have heard about Jesse Ventura.  He's a type of character out of a far fetched movie.  Wait a minute, he was in the movies already.  Check the resume; Mr. Ventura is a former navy seal, professional wrestler, Governor of Minnesota, actor, radio talk show host harvard business school student and is a New York Times best selling author several times over.  As a peace and freedom activist, Jessie is now crusading full-on, balls out, for the legalization of marijuana in the United States across the board.  He hopes to get the job done within his lifetime.   "I want to help people that desperately need marijuana get it.".   photo credit -  THE REAL DEAL While Jesse and his buddies risked their lives fighting for our freedom @ $20,000 per year, virtually under-cover in hellish environments without fanfare as an elite Navy Seal - his real archenemies (as it turned out) were the career politicians and petty bureaucrats; folks who exist solely to patrol gaudy fundraising parties, stuffing their suit pockets to the brim with $2000 donations and then spending the proceeds in decadence.   Make no mistake about it.  While Mr. Ventura campaigns for freedom, the shill opposition that is the mass media and government has set up roadblock after roadblock.  Paraphrasing Jesse, even with all the brute force trauma the Feds bring to the table, the tide is turning, and the majority of the public has tuned out of the traditional media - whose money comes entirely from big pharma and too-big-to-fail corp.  The politically correct thinking and behavior of today was directed through propaganda by elites who are home to no country - whose religion is entirely based on power first and money second.   None the less, their "drug on" war had little effect, as marijuana has become America's largest cash crop - by a wide margin, kachinking in at a cool $50 billion or so per annum.  Given these kind of bottomline numbers, it is not surprising that the vast majority of Americans support marijuana legalization today. For Jesse, war is a racket and the people running the wars are despicable criminals, by enlarge. Previously, Jesse has taken on FEMA, infiltrated their prisoner of war camps that are set up on American soil supposedly made for the citizens in case of an emergency - but the camps had barbed wire perimeters, with sharpies pointed in -  this design is for keeping people IN and  NOT OUT.   Whoah.  Ventura's protested on the floor of the senate, been the guest of Vladimir Putin and Fidel Castro.  Ventura notes that he's not afforded the respectful title Governor by the US court and government but outside the country, he's always referred to as governor Ventura.   MARIJUANA SAVED JESSE'S FRIEND While Jesse's book on Marijuana is new, he's always been in favor of legalization of marijuana among other drugs.  Jesse, an enforcer who's been around, knows that legalization is every drug dealer's worst nightmare. Jesse's passion was sparked when he was taking care of a dear friend with epilepsy.  The friend's condition got worse, with constant seizures day and night. The doctor's prescribed four different medicines and nothing worked and the side effects were horrendous.  It got to the point where Jesse himself needed to seek-out medical treatment for his comrade, so he-himself could get on with life.  Enter medical marijuana.  Jesse's friend went to Colorado and got some medicine, three drops placed under the tongue a few times per day. With Cannabis therapy, Jesse's friend's seizures stopped completely and both the patient and caregiver's quality of life returned.   HOW LEGAL MEDICAL MARIJUANA GOT STARTED IN CALIFORNIA Jesse also talks about the influence of Steve Kubby, a Californian who had a rare form of cancer - a disease with a 100% mortality rate within 5 years.  For the next 25 years, Kubby claimed to control the symptoms solely by smoking medical marijuana along with a healthy diet. His original doctor was shocked to learn he was still alive and commented, "In some amazing fashion, this medication has not only controlled the symptoms of the pheochromocytoma, but in my view, has arrested its growth.".     FEDS JAIL MEDICAL MARIJUANA USER AND CANCER VICTIM Ventura takes particular offense to the terrible prosecution that Kubby would come to experience in his efforts to make marijuana available to other cancer victims.  In 1996, Kubby was instrumental in the drafting and passage of California Proposition 215, The Compassionate Use Act of 1996.  Despite the victory of Prop. 215, Kubby and his wife, Michele, were arrested, jailed and prosecuted, under the false claim that the voter initiative provides only an affirmative defense and that it is to be used by only "seriously ill patients".  Kubby had been growing marijuana under the laws of California and was thrown in jail by the Feds. We are talking Swat teams breaking into a family home of a cancer victim in an effort to save the American people from drugs. Laughable, but not the least bit funny.  The cancer returned and Steve almost died, when doctor's intervened and got him back on medical marijuana.  And so the FED-DEA witch hunt went on and on. Despite the overwhelming power of the adversary, there is a happy ending, Marijuana is still legal in medical form in California and Mr. Kubby is alive, well and active.   Steve Kubby Today   FEDS - THE CONSTITUTION???, WHAT'S THAT GOT TO DO WITH ANYTHING? Jesse Ventura drives home the reality of how far America has deviated from the founding father's original vision and their warning about the possibility that their own creation could become corrupt and infiltrated by tyrants.  The people that are pulling the strings at the Fed are trying to dismantle the constitution entirely.  The Feds are not working for the people ,they are in the business of taking away freedoms and pushing the state governments around.  Jesse calls upon all Americans to take a stand.  The government works for YOU.  Demand that the government follow the law. Demand that they do not overstep the boundaries established in the constitution  Jesse says, when you get to be my age now, you have to figure out what your priorities are and focus on things that are really important.   I decided I want to do two things: To make marijuana legal in all the United States Bring peace between Russia and the US So our man of action did two things, he wrote a bestseller about Marijuana and he signed a deal with Russia TV America. "My parents were both World War II veterans, who loved the Russian people, why did America become the enemy of Russia then?  Because America was run by the Wall Street hoodlums even back then."   Jesse on Russia TV -  OFF THE GRID - No censorship in Russia as yet, but Jesse's banned from most US TV outlets.   FEDS FUND MEDICAL MARIJUANA RESEARCH - KNOW IT WORKS Jesse went onto say that there is a university in Israel that was funded heavily by the US government and that their veterans are treated in mass for post traumatic stress disorder, MS, pain and other malidies.  Jesse says the most famous doctor at the Israeli institute, a Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, has stated that people like NFL football players suffering from concussion could be helped greatly by using the right medical marijuana. Jesse opines; How ridiculous and shameful is it that the US government deny access to veterans, while knowing very well from their own research, that cannabis could effectively treat them.  He goes on further to say that pharmaceutical drugs should not be advertised with commercials urging patients to ask their doctors for certain drugs.  He called the process akin to dealing with a street drug dealer.   IF ALIVE TODAY, THE FEDS WOULD THROW GEORGE WASHINGTON IN JAIL All of this blasphemy flies in the face of history, where the founding fathers, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin who were all major hemp farmers and advocates.  Even the bill of rights and constitution were made from marijuana.  The majority of the people support the legalization of marijuana.  marijuana was the backbone for the british empire and used as a currency.   "The Brits forced the American Emigrants to grow Marijuana (hemp)." In the 1930's Ventura claims that William Randolph spearheaded the campaign to make cannabis illegal throughout the United States.     The story goes, Hurst owned 26 newspapers and thousands of acres of timber the fed the US printing business. Hundreds of millions of newspapers per week add up to one hell of a lot of pulp and paper.  Hurst and his chronies lobbied or rather bought off politicians and got the competition=hemp banned.   Ventura says that Hurst was not a capitalist, he did not like the competitive process where the best man or product wins, it's been the ones withthe most money and is the biggest crook that wins.  Hurst sponsored horrible racian propaganda, saying that the evil weed would cause black men to rape their white daughters, that the Mexicans used it and that is why they were so lazy, and so on. This is the origin of the confusion that the average "educated" American demonstrates today.  Criminal behavior by big-corp is seen as a property of capitalism, whereas Jesse says' no way, it is just flat out criminal behavior.   THE KENNEDY FAMILY CANNOT TALK ON TV - BANNED Regarding big pharma, Jesse's friend, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, JFK's son told him that mass media is funded 80% of mainstream television and that even a Kennedy is not allowed to discuss issues like dodgy vaccines, marijuana and other medical topics on any network.   The dinosaur TV media is already irrelevant to the under age-40 portion of the population but the elderly, who consume most of the pharmaceuticals, still sit in front of the "idiot box" to get their "information." "Then there are other benefits.  People that can access marijuana tend to drink less, especially at public functions like football gatherings.  Fights, hangovers and arrests are way down. "   MARIJUANA MEANS $$$, JOBS AND LESS CRIME Marijuana legalization has resulted in nothing but jobs and money for Colorado and Washington, with hundreds of millions of dollars tax collected and spent on needy causes, while police are freed up to chase real criminals, like pedaphiles and sex offenders.   Ventura says In conclusion, since the days of Nixon, one trillion dollars on the was spent on the war of drugs and the only result was to fill the prisons.  Coming down the pipe is, that after marijuana is legalized across America, big pharma will come in and take over the business, requiring a prescription for their patented forms of the medicine - and to take away the rights of Americans to grow their own medical marijuana.  It appears that in all likelihood, after marijuana is fully legalized, big-pharma will be up to their same old tricks, to wipe out competition (weed grown by individuals) and grab all the money by forcing the medical industry to buy through only their channels (just like the cheater Mr. Hearst).   AFTER FULL LEGALIZATION - THEN THE BATTLE REALLY BEGINS The battle just begun. There is only one way to victory and it is very simple.  The war against the Feds and big pharma will be won when the majority of americans gather together and exercise their right to grow and use their own herbal medicine - plain and simple.  Together we stand strong, but individually we shall fall, every time.   420EvaluationsOnline provides medical doctor's recommendations online that allow Californian citizens to legally buy, consume and transport medical medical marijuana.  This Telehealth compliant process takes only a few minutes and is far cheaper than the average visit to the doctor.  420Evaluationsonline also supplies Cannabis ID cards, marijuana recommendation renewals and Grower's permits.   FURTHER READING Jesse Ventura lays out his Philosophy on Marijuana Interview of Jesse on Capricorn Radio. Marijuana Manifesto In this groundbreaking book, bestselling author Jesse Ventura lays out his philosophy on marijuana, and why he’s always been in favor of legalization. Now, more than ever before, our country needs to see full legalization of medical/recreational marijuana and hemp. Steve Kubby   STATE READY FOR END TO POT PROHIBITION?  President Franklin D.  Roosevelt cheered the end of Prohibition in 1933 with these famous words: "What America needs now is a drink." Roosevelt and other federal officials had been expecting the demise of America's widely panned policy of banning the sale, transportation, production and importation of booze. As various states put an end to the prohibition of marijuana, I've heard of no politicians extolling Americans to enjoy a good "toke" - but many are nevertheless plotting the regulatory and tax strategies for a post-legalization world.  To many California officials, the issue is not whether to legalize recreational uses in a state that 19 years ago approved medical marijuana.  It's about when change will happen and what the world is going to look like after it does. DOES MARIJUANA INTERACT WITH PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS?

"Well-known brands of hay fever tablets, painkillers and sleeping pills pose a previously unknown threat to people’s health when taken together, British scientists claim." - The Telegraph The quick and dirty answer is YES.  Marijuana can definitely interact - positively or negatively - with your medication.      Until recently, Cannabis has been out of the loop, a non-option, for prescription by medical doctors.  In depth knowledge about Cannabis based medicines interaction with prescription drugs is limited due to the herb's unfortunate stint (80 years) as an illegal drug.  As such, most orthodox doctors have little experience or training in cannabis based medicines.  However, many medical practitioners are equipped with the acumen and experience that will allow them to safely incorporate marijuana into their treatment regimes / repertoires.  Cannabis based medicines are generally far less toxic than many pharmaceuticals and have fewer side effects, a fact that makes multiple-drug management including MMJ an easier task. "The drugs, including common allergy treatments Piriton and Zantac, as well as Seroxat, an antidepressant, are thought to be used by half of the 10  million over-65s in Britain. Many of the drugs, when taken in combination, were found to more than treble an elderly patient’s chance of dying within two years." - The Telegraph What's happening to folks and our elderly in particular, is downright scary.  Gauging the exact effect of but one drug on an individual is a difficult task, let alone predict the interaction of a half a dozen medications taken simultaneously.  Here is what a prominent medical doctor has to say.   "The average person over 65 now uses seven different medications per day, four prescribed and three over-the-counter, There's never been a controlled study on a human being involving more than three drugs circulating in the body at the same time. So no one knows, scientifically, exactly what's going on in your body when you take seven, 10, or a dozen at a time." - Andrew Duxbury, MD, associate professor of geriatrics at the University of Alabama. Here is a second opinion from a popular medical website.http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/. “Drug interactions are the Achilles heel of the medical profession. The laws of nature no longer hold true. This is a crazy world where one plus one equals three, where down may very well be up and surely pigs have wings. In fact, mixing medicines is very much like playing Russian roulette. You never know when a particular combination will produce a lethal outcome.” - Joe Graedon There are way too many cases of death caused by lethal drug interactions.  Prince, Michael Jackson, Glenn Frey and perhaps soon Hillary Clinton are among the casualties.  Which goes to show that even if you have fame and fortune, your exotic cocktail of drugs can easily be fatal.  In the case of Prince, authorities think a combination of Percocet and Buprenorphine could well have ended the singer’s life prematurely. It is known that Percocet and Buprenorphine suppress breathing, and using the two in combination creates a “dangerous synergistic effect.”   HOW ABOUT YOU? Can Marijuana cause dangerous interactions with my medication too?  What kind of interactions should my doctor look for?  Can Medical Marijuana replace or lower the dose of some of my existing medication? To understand medical marijuana's potential interactions with pharmaceutical drugs, one first has to understand what is in the medicine.  Each variety or strain of marijuana contains a unique assortment of several hundred compounds, many of which are medicinal.  The most important and abundant medicinal ingredients in  Marijuana are compounds called cannabinoids. Medical grade marijuana should come with a certificate of analysis (cannabinoid profile) that quantifies the main active ingredients THC and CBD as well as several other cannabinoids. The ratios between CBD (non psychoactive) and THC (psychoactive) dictate largely the pharmacological effects.  In addition, Cannabis also contains many terpenes (aromatic compounds), that also have therapeutic effects.     The discoverer of THC, Dr. Raphael Mechoulam found out early on that various cannabinoids present in marijuana work in synergy and are more effective / palatable medically when taken together as nature provides.  Of course, the pharmaceutical industry want's to isolate and synthesize individual components of marijuana and then study the effects in clinical trials.  So there is a failure by orthodox medicine to recognize the essential nature of biological systems.  Biological systems are complex and nothing works in isolation.  Calculating the effects of a drug using simple models in this arena of complexity is simply a gross oversimplification of the process.   Of course, the question about drug administration and interactions is best answered by medical practitioners with deep experience in recommending medical marijuana.   "Entourage effect is a phrase that was introduced in cannabinoid science in 1998 by S. Ben-Shabat, with Raphael Mechoulam, to represent a novel endogenous cannabinoid molecular regulation route. Biological activity assayed together with inactive compounds. References whole-plant and whole-person caregiver synergy treatments over isolated compound pharmacological dosage."- Wiki Dr. Paul Hornby, a PhD. in pathology and medical marijuana guru of sorts has found that THC and CBD interact to produce a balancing effect mentally, whereas THC alone can cause temporary psychosis. Fold musician, Neil Young recently shared his findings that chewing on a few black peppercorns (full of terpenes) stops feelings of paranoia that can happen even with experienced users. Interactions of cannabis with other drugs in man. In this PUBMED report (the world's largest medical document source), it was found that only THC interacted measurable with booze (ethanol) and barbiturates.  Effects were additive, in the positive and negative directions.  CBD did not register a notable co- effect with any drug in the study. However, it was speculated that CBD might well moderate or block the action of psychoactive THC, thereby reducing impairment while medicating.  In addition, there was a wide variety of responses between individuals and this finding is very significant when predicting impairing effects and pharmaceutical benefits. Differential effects of cannabis extracts and pure plant cannabinoids This study found that THC and especially CBD elevates intracellular levels of Calcium.  This effect will may be additive and should be an important consideration when taking medication that affects cellular calcium levels.  The study concludes that THC and CBD interact synergistically as well. Cannabinoid-induced alterations in brain disposition of drugs of abuse Pretreatment with CBD enhanced the brain levels of subsequent uptake of both THC and Cocaine while co-effects were negligible with morphine, methadone, o\r methamphetamine. These results imply that CBD may be useful to enhance the uptake of certain drugs while lowering the dose and side effects. GW Pharmaceuticals Research on Cannabinoid Medical Applications GW Pharmaceuticals is a leader (market cap is $2 billion) in the medical application and research of cannabis based medicines.  Studies by GW Pharmaceuticals imply that cannabidiol is often better tolerated, is lower in toxicity and has less generally less problematic drug interaction issues.  GW investigated the use of a sublingual spray containing THC:CBD for pain in spinal cord injury, pain and sleep in MS, spinal cord injury, neuropathic pain in MS and general neuropathic pain. Results from trials showed that THC:CBD caused a statistically significant reduction in neuropathic pain in patients with MS and other conditions. In addition, improvements in other MS symptoms were observed. Phase II studies of THC:CBD were completed in patients with MS, spinal cord injury, neuropathic pain and a small number of patients with peripheral neuropathy secondary to diabetes mellitus or AIDS.   photocredit While this chart might be indicative of the overall situation, there is a significant problem with people freaking out on high THC weed and being admitted to emergency.  The good news is that the effects of paranoia wear off after a several hours.   THE MAYO CLINIC - MARIJUANA AND DRUG INTERACTIONS Mayo's findings are summarized in bullet point, click on the Mayo Clinic link (title) for details. Marijuana may increase the risk of bleeding when taken with drugs that increase the risk of bleeding.   Doctor's might consider if blood thinning medication can be reduced if marijuana is indicated. Marijuana may affect blood sugar levels. People taking drugs for diabetes by mouth or insulin should be monitored closely by a qualified healthcare professional. Doctor's can observe cause and effect, and regulate insulin and cannabis medication accordingly. Marijuana may cause low blood pressure. Caution is advised in people taking drugs that lower blood pressure. Physicians can consider using Cannabis  based medicines to work with other blood pressure lowering medications. Marijuana may interfere with the way the body processes certain drugs using the liver's cytochrome P450 enzyme system. As a result, the levels of these drugs may be increased in the blood and may cause increased effects or potentially serious adverse reactions. Again, the positives and negatives of this potential inter-drug reaction should be studied. Marijuana may increase the amount of drowsiness caused by some drugs. Since marijuana comes in so many types, psychoactive, non-psychoactive and many other varieties, the cause and effect should be monitored carefully, particularly when THC is high in the cannabis based medicine. Marijuana may also interact with agents that; affect blood vessel width, the immune system, be toxic to the liver, improve breathing or treat lung disorders, increase appetite, treat heart disorders, treat nausea or vomiting, treat nervous system disorders, agents that may treat psychiatric disorders, agents that may treat retrovirus infections (HIV), treat skin disorders, treat stomach disorders.   these interactions may mean that marijuana might be used as the lead therapy and other drug doses might be reduced or eliminated entirely. Cannabis based medicines can interact with anabolic steroids, anticancer agents, antipyrine, antiseizure agents, bromo-dragonFLY, cannabinoid CB1 receptor antagonists, central nervous system depressants, cocaine, corticosteroids, dopamine antagonists, ecstasy, estrogens, fertility agents, hormonal agents, nicotine, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents, opioid receptor antagonists, pain relievers, p-glycoprotein-regulated agents, prochlorperazine, sedatives, and synthetic cannabinoids. complementary and detrimental relationships need to be considered carefully.   Medscape on Marijuana Cannabis is Analgesia, Antiemetic, Appetite Stimulant, Glaucoma. Dosing of marijuana preparations is highly dependent on a variety of factors (eg, growing and harvesting conditions, plant parts isolated). No standard guidelines exist for dosage ranges. Cannabis and prescribed medications Anti-marijuana organization chimes in with their findings.  The narrative suggests certainty about interactions, which is in direct conflict with axioms of medical science. Web MD WebMD chimes in with the opinion that marijuana based drugs are not advised as pain killers because it makes the user sleepy.   What can you say about that kind of statement?  Not all Cannabis based meds make you sleepy and for a chronic pain sufferer, a side effect that includes a good night's sleep is a blessing.  And, of course many over the counter and prescribed drug warnings include drowsiness. Pharmacy Times - Drug Interactions with Marijuana This group knows about marijuana based medicines and provides clinical evidence about potential drug interactions. Drug interactions A Family Guide to Concurrent Disorders - Part III: Treatment Caffeine, alcohol, nicotine and marijuana interaction with pharmaceutical drugs is discussed. This group warns that marijuana is addictive, which flies in the face of most current research and statistical evidence.  While marijuana might cause an addiction for some, like Jim Carrey, who feels like he's on holiday too much, most studies find that cannabis has the lowest addiction rate of any of the major drugs, legal and illegal.   Chart source Drug Wars: HOW TO SAFELY COMBINE MEDICAL MARIJUANA WITH PHARMACEUTICALS The effect of prescription drugs can be compounded – or weakened – when combined with Cannabis.  Cannabis was often prescribed with opium before 1930 for pain.  Recently, some physicians report that patients using cannabis with non-steroidal anti-inflammatories have better relief of pain. this is great news, but the additive good effects could be too much of a good thing.  Over relaxation and drowsiness of these two drugs in combination could be fatal. It should be noted that Cannabis use alone has seldom, if ever caused death alone.  The strategy of some physicians is to try dosing with moderate amounts of Cannabis medicines with different ratios of CBD and THC and then consider adding other drugs as required.   Suppressants and Sleeping aids When cannabinoids are mixed with other suppressants, sleeping aids and such, the effect can often be additive.  If a patient is using drugs like Sonata, Lunesta, Ambien; and Zimovane and the practicing physician is interested in prescribing cannabinoids, then the dose of the pharmaceuticals may well need to be reduced or eliminated entirely.   Anti-antihistamines Cannabis can make anti-antihistamines more potentiated and drowsiness may result, so lowering the dose might be required.  Cannabis can can amplify some of the effects of alcohol, which is true of many other medicines.   Blood sugar lowering meds Diabetics take warning, blood sugar lowering Metformin and Glucophage, interacts with Cannabis.   Some types of cannabis were shown to interfere with the effectiveness of Metformin.     Antihypertensives Hypertension is often treated with antihypertensives to lower blood pressure.  Some types of marijuana can either lower or raise (speed weed)  blood pressure, depending on the strain and the individual.  Therefore, patients should monitor the effects of their medications to see that their medication is effective.   Tricyclic antidepressants and SNRIs Both cannabis based medicines and tricyclic antidepressants or other drugs (SNRIs) that inhibit the uptake of serotonin and norepinephrine are used in anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), chronic neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), and PMS.  Drugs include amitriptyline, amoxapine and desipramine. When combined with Cannabis there is a potential of interaction, an increase in drowsiness and sedation.   Stimulants Tachycardia and hypertension may occur when marijuana is combined with stimulants. Medications for hypertension or arrhythmias, or patients with cardiovascular issues should be cautious to monitor their response to a new strain of Cannabis. This caution applies when mixing other stimulants - such as amphetamines, cocaine and coffee - with marijuana.   Antipsychotic Medications Marijuana might interfere with drugs used to treat depression and bipolar symptoms. Currently, there is a lot of interest in how CBD and CBD:THC balanced strains work to help treat psychosis and depression.   Theophyllines Cannabis has been shown to increase the metabolism of Theophyllines; which is used to treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.  Cannabis might be useful to lower the dose of theophyllines required.   FURTHER READING How to Safely Combine Medical Marijuana with Pharmaceuticals A Deadly Drug Interaction Often Ignored by Doctors and Pharmacists Entourage effect of Cannabinoids Trial Results for CBD in the Treatment of Lennox Gastaut Disease Drugs that May Interact with CBD Oil Due to its broad range of effects, Cannabis can cause a variety of interaction effects with many over-the-counter and prescription medications. MARINOL VS CANNABIS

Marinol (dronabinol) is the only US FDA-approved synthetic cannabinoid. Marinol is produced as a gelatin capsule containing synthetic delta-9 THC in sesame oil. It is an oral medicine and is available in 2, 5, and 10mg dosages. When medical professionals consider a drug's effectiveness, they look at look at the medicine's ability to reduce symptoms, improve vital signs in balance with negative side effects.    Toxicology is the scientific study of adverse effects in living organisms caused by chemicals. The effect of a chemical in an organism is observed and documented with mechanisms or models of action are studied, formulated and/or critiqued.   A basic premise in basic toxicology theory (and practice) is that synthetic compounds are far more likely to be toxic or assimilate into the body in a suboptimal way, often resulting in an interruption in metabolic activities, causing minor to severe poisoning.   A simple illustration is common table salt.  Naturally occurring sea salts contain a mixture of sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium salts that resembles closely blood serum and sweat concentrations.  Through processing, many table salts are nearly pure sodium chloride with the trace elements removed.  Elite endurance athletes use the natural sea-salt product in their sports drinks to replace minerals lost in competition.  Athletes on pure sodium end up cramping and prematurely exhausted.  This is a very simple, fundamental and powerful concept, that many so-called nutritionists and general practitioners to not properly comprehend.    In fact, this is the problem in taking isolates and synthetic pharmaceuticals.  Thought synthetic medicines are more toxic and often less effective than naturally occurring drugs and medicines, the medical establishment pushes them for one reason and one reason only. Money.  Synthetic drugs can be patented, allowing the manufacturer, a 100% monopoly on sales and profits.  As synthetic drugs gradually came into the marketplace, the manufacturers began to "support research" and fund medical schools.   In time, most great natural remedies would be effectively wiped from the physician's vocabulary and knowledge set.  In other words, it is a process of brainwashing.  So, instead of prescribing natural whole opium for example, the pharmaceutical industry synthesizes the opiate purifies it to make their "quality" standardized product.   Clinical Data - A comparison between Marinol (dronabinol) and Cannabis.   Marinol defined   "Marinol or Dronabinol is the INN for a pure isolated isomer of Δ9 THC, which is the dominant and psychoactive isomer found in most US grown cannabis. Orthodox medicine recognizes Marinol as a viable treatment for anorexia in people with HIV/AIDS as well as for nausea and vomiting in people undergoing chemotherapy. It is safe and effective for these uses"   THC was first isolated in 1964 by Raphael Mechoulam and Yechiel Gaoni at the Weizmann Institute of Science.    Dr. Mechoulam was also one of the first scientists to discover the entourage effect, that cannabinoids and terpenes in combination are a more effective medicine, with less side effects, than isolates of monatomic strains of High THC weed with almost no other cannabinoids.   Whole Cannabis   Natural and hybrid Cannabis strains have been found to contain more than hundreds of medicinal cannabinoids, including psychoactive THC, non-psychoactive CBD as well as terpenes, flavonoids, sterols and other compounds - many of which, have outstanding therapeutic benefits in their own right.   Marinol vs. Natural Plant   Orthodox Medical Doctors new to Medical Marijuana prefer Marinol because it is a standardized medical extract. In other words, they know what's in it and believe it is easier to get a handle on simple cause and effect in therapy.   Both Marinol and whole cannabis can effectively and safely treat many diseases and symptoms without serious side effects as compared to other medicines.   Marinol Lacks Several of the Therapeutic Compounds including terpenes - especially the non-psychoactive cannabinoid CBD, which balances reduces anxiety in Natural Cannabis.   Marinol gets you very high, while balanced and low THC marijuana strains do not get patients too stoned, anxious or paranoid.   Marinol does not contain terpenes.  Some terpenes have been found to enhance THC's medicinal properties while reducing or eliminating side effects of anxiety and psychosis, experienced by some.   Cannabis can be vaporized and is prefered over the oral route by some doctors and patients.   Marinol is in the hands of big-pharma and is more expensive than great lab tested weed.    Patients much prefer natural cannabis to Marinol.   The position taken by CALIFORNIA NORML is that:   "Despite FDA approval2, Marinol typically provides only limited relief to select patients, particularly when compared to natural cannabis and its cannabinoids. Marinol should remain a legal option for patients and physicians; however, federal and state laws should be amended to allow for those patients who are unresponsive to synthetic   THC the ability to use natural cannabis and its cannabinoids as a medical therapy without fear of arrest and/or criminal prosecution. By prohibiting the possession and use of natural cannabis and its cannabinoids, patients are unnecessarily restricted to use a synthetic substitute that lacks much of the therapeutic efficacy of natural cannabis." List of Medicinal Cannabinoids not contained in Marinol. photo credit   CBG (Cannabigerol): Non-psychoactive, anti-insomnia. antimicrobial, lowers eye ball pressure CBC (Cannabichromene): sedative that moderates the effects of THC. Pain killer, is non-psychoactive. THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin): Turbo-energetic “high” effect. Appetite suppressant. euphoric, analgesic (pain relieving). CBD (Cannabidiol): Non-psychoactive. Reduces muscle spasms, only remedy for some types of epileptic conditions . Muscle relaxant, painkiller, analgesic, antispasmodic, anxiolytic, antipsychotic, antinausea, and anti-rheumatoid arthritic properties   CBN (Cannabinol): Mildly psychoactive and non-narcotic analgesic (pain relieving).   Research Studies   THC works better with CBD "Animal and human studies have shown CBD to possess anti-convulsant properties, particularly in the treatment of epilepsy.5 Natural extracts of CBD, when administered in combination with THC, significantly reduce pain, spasticity and other symptoms in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients unresponsive to standard treatment medications.6"   CBD or CBD plus THC works better than THC "CBD was also found to be neuroprotective against glutamate neurotoxicity (i.e. stroke), cerebral infarction (localized cell death in the brain), and ethanol-induced neurotoxicity,9 with CBD being more protective against glutamate neurotoxicity than either ascorbate (vitamin C) " The Entourage Effect   photo credit   The synergy of these compounds is likely to be significantly more efficacious than oral administration of synthetic THC alone.   "Good evidence shows that secondary compounds in cannabis may enhance beneficial effects of THC. Other cannabinoid and non-cannabinoid compounds in herbal cannabis ... may reduce THC-induced anxiety, cholinergic deficits, and immunosuppression. Cannabis terpenoids and flavonoids may also increase cerebral blood flow, enhance cortical activity, kill respiratory pathogens, and provide anti-inflammatory activity." - McPartland and Russo   "In an in vitro model of epilepsy, natural cannabis extracts performed better than THC alone. In human trials, patients suffering from multiple sclerosis experienced greater symptomatic relief from sublingual natural cannabis extracts than from the administration of oral THC."     Marinol Oral Dose is slow and erratic, Vaping MMJ is quicker and more effective   Once the game is on, it's full on. After oral administration of Marinol, patients have no choice but to experience the full psychoactive effects of the dose consumed. These dysphoric effects may last several hours.   "In practice, cannabis vaporization offers considerable advantages over oral THC consumption. While the oral ingestion of Marinol avoids the potential risks of smoking, it has significant drawbacks. Because of synthetic THC's poor bioavailability, only 5-20 percent of an oral dose ever reaches the bloodstream. The drug may not achieve peak effect until four hours after dosing."   Cannabis vaporization delivers cannabinoids to the bloodstream almost instantaneously. Marino's  therapeutic and psychoactive effects may be unpredictable and vary considerably, both from one person to another, and in the same person from one episode of use to another. By contrast.   Vaporization rapid onset also allows patients to self regulate their dosage of cannabinoids by immediately ceasing inhalation when/if their psychoactive effects become unpleasant.    Because of its rapid onset, many experienced medical professionals find that vaporized cannabis is more desirable than Marinol for patients requiring a fast-acting therapeutic agent for the sudden onset of nausea, anxiety, seizures, pain or spasms. Cannabis vaping allows patients that suffer from nausea and vomiting to receive their medicine - when they have difficulty swallowing or keeping food down.  Cancer and HIV/AIDS victims often report vomiting up Marinol capsules during bouts of severe nausea. 420EvaluationsOnline: To buy the finest lab-test medical marijuana in California, patients need a licensed medical doctor's recommendation to treat your conditions and symptoms.  Click here to get your documents in minutes.  The process is 100% online and your MMJ documents are emailed not long after you have completed your online 420 evaluation. HOW TO MAKE QUITE POSSIBLY - THE BEST MARIJUANA BROWNIES IN THE COUNTRY

"When making ‘marijuana edibles’, you don’t just throw the marijuana buds into the food and chow down, believe it or not. The THC, the main active ingredient in most marijuana, must first be extracted into a butter or an oil mixture and then added or cooked with the food."   At every Marijuana show, Marijuana Brownies are hands-down, the most popular form of edible Oral consumption of Marijuana is one effective way to medicate with your favorite type of medical cannabis while enjoying a delightful culinary experience.  You might think of eating weed laced brownies as a delicious, sinful activity ,but amazingly, the science says otherwise.  Read on, and you shall find ample rationale that will remove any guilt relating to the consumption of  tasty Marijuana Edibles.   The strange thing about some strains of Marijuana is that it has been shown to be effective to control extreme weight gain and loss.  Obviously, a case of the brownie munchies is going to up the calorie count, but the effect of Cannabis for many people is to stop worrying so much about food.  Overall, obese people's mental biochemical condition - that causes food cravings  - can be balanced with weed because the active ingredients of medical marijuana, like THC and other cannabinoids, tent to balance the receptors that control appetite.   We recently discovered that the prevalence of obesity is paradoxically much lower in cannabis users as compared to non-users!   "Obesity is one of the highest preventable causes of morbidity and mortality in the developed world. It has been well known for a long time that exposure to cannabis produces an increase of appetite (a phenomenon referred to as the 'munchies').   This phenomenon led to an exploration of the role of the endocannabinoid system in the regulation of obesity and associated metabolic syndrome. This effort subsequently led to the development of a successful therapeutic approach for obesity that consisted of blocking the cannabinoid CB1 receptors using ligands such as Rimonabant in order to produce weight loss and improve metabolic profile."  - Translational Addiction Research Laboratory   Ingredients for Marijuana Brownies photo credit 1-3 tablespoons cannabis-infused butter (room temperature) 5 oz butter 4 ounces baking chocolate - organic chocolate liquor or cocoa solids 3 large organic eggs (room temperature) 2 cups cane sugar 1 teaspoon sea salt 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1 cup all-purpose flour (see flour choices below) Preheat oven to 350 deg F.   Grease Pan (12-by-9-inch ) sides and bottom with butter. Melt chocolate in a double boiler at low heat until runny. Mix butter with melted chocolate at room temperature. Add cane sugar and mix with butter and chocolate (see chef notes below). Add cannabutter salt, eggs, vanilla extract and mix, whisking thoroughly. Fold in flour into above mixture until a batter forms by whisking with a large wooden spoon or spatula Place raw brownie mixture into the greased baking pan Bake , place pan in preheated oven (350F) and cook for for 35 to 40 minutes - until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for an hour.   EAT and receive your compliments- about the best marijuana brownies ever made by man,  woman or other life form.   TRICKS AND TIPS Don't overbake. Overbaking and higher temperature cooking will denature the active ingredients in the cannabis oil, lower the nutritional value and reduce the flavor. You can buy a thermometer to double check your oven temperature.  Few people like burned chocolate baked goods.   Let brownies cool completely.  Many people think putting brownies in the fridge overnight is best. Store properly.  Use airtight containers and store at room temperature. Label your marijuana-infused brownies clearly -so there is a reduced chance of accidental consumption. Definitely keep these MMJ goodies away from access by children.   THE REAL SECRET - HOW TO PICK INGREDIENTS photo credit   Maximize the Nutritional, Taste and Medication Value   Cannabis Butter It is very important that you choose the type of Cannabis that suits you best.  There are three basic types of marijuana and oil.  For parties, an assortment of brownies would be a good idea.   High THC - gets you high and is medicinal.  Side effects can include paranoia and anxiety Balanced THC and CBD - gets you high, but effects tend to be more cerebral and uplifting, side effects are much less as CBD moderates the psychosis that THC can bring. High CBD - does not get you high, but is relaxing, kills pain, reduces cramping, seizures, spasms and a host of other blessings.    Flour Use the tastiest organic ingredients you can find.  Never use white sugar.  Whole wheat flour doesn't taste the best and is overrated.  We say you don't need to be perfect and can use a lightly processed white flour and cut it 50% with organic oat, rye, buckwheat, rice flour.  This combo is healthy, tasty and hearty.  You can play with the ratios and ingredients to make the recipe your own.   Eggs Don't eat regular eggs.  The condition of the laying hens and the environment found in massive poultry operations is absolutely disgusting. The hens are pumped full of antibiotics and other shit to keep them alive and laying frequently. So buy organic eggs.  You can tell if they are really organic because the yolk does not easily break, it's bigger and the color is more orange than yellow.  Also, stay away from chickens fed with fish parts.  These so called Omega-3 eggs taste awful; there is a residual taste of fish in the eggs.   Chocolate Use natural raw chocolate or liquor.  You can't bake the finest brownies without using the best chocolate.   photo credit Cane Sugar Pick-up raw organic cane sugar at your local health food store.  The less the processing, the more nutrients that are retained.   "Coarse sugars like Sugar in the Raw require more moisture to dissolve, resulting in drier doughs and more difficulty achieving a "creaming" effect in recipes. To help raw sugar behave more like white table sugar, use a food processor to grind it down to a finer consistency or adding a few teaspoons of water to replace the lost moisture in recipes. If you're using it in coffee or tea, stir more thoroughly to allow the sugar to dissolve." - Pastry Chef Nicole Weston   Butter Unpasteurized if you can get it.  Don't use old butter or oils because they can go rancid.   Butter is definitely recommended as opposed to Vegetable Cooking Oil. The top naturopaths now recommend butter while MD's now recommend vegetable oils.  Some 30 years ago, many  naturopaths were recommending vegetable oils and MD's butter.  What a nutty world. Vitamins - a rich source of easily absorbed vitamin A, other fat-soluble vitamins (D, E and K2) Minerals- rich in important trace minerals, including manganese, chromium, zinc, copper, selenium and iodine. Fatty Acids - provides short- and medium-chain fatty acids, which support immune function, boost metabolism, balanced in omega-3 and omega-6 fats, arachidonic acid, conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA). Glycosphingolipids which are a type of fatty acids that protect against gastrointestinal infections Cholesterol ...good. Wulzen Factor ... A hormone-like substance that prevents arthritis and joint stiffness.   Salt Choose a sea-salt that has some potassium, calcium and magnesium values in it.  Tour de France cyclists use sea salt, while Wal-mart shoppers prefer to be depleted of essential minerals.   Vanilla Extract Why buy artificial crap when you can get the real stuff.     CANNABIS OIL TYPES   photo credit   Cannabis Oil It’s straight up cannabis butter, except its in liquid oil form.  Cannabis oil is aromatic and is light to dark green or brown color. Cannabis oils usually have a veggie-nut taste which varies depending on the parent.  Oils can be higher in either THC or CBD or balanced (1:1).   Hemp Oil is made by pressing hemp seeds and extracting the oil. Cold pressed hempseed oil is green with a nutty flavor. Refined hemp oil is colorless, tasteless and void of most nutrients and has very little THC.  Seeds are cleaned before the oil is pressed.   Butane Hash Oil (BHO) is pretty popular because it is simple to make and is very potent.  BHO is a solvent oil, similar to CO2 oil and alcohol-oil extractions. BHO is commonly known as Honey Oil because it is sticky and light amber color. Warning: Butane is extremely flammable and has fumes can easily ignite.   CO2 Oil is produced using carbon dioxide (CO2) extraction and it is advertised to make the purest of oils  This method retains more terpenes and cannabinoids yielding a full-flavor, full-potency oil that can be smoked, vaporized or consumed orally. CO2 extraction is considered a green solvent, as opposed to petroleum derived solvents like butane.   Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) is generally dark amber in color and tar-like.   Cannabidiol Oil (CBD Oil) is basically any oil where cannabidiol is the primary active ingredient. Cannabidiol oils don’t contain THC in large quantity. It is always best to have a cannabinoid profile (lab test), that shows the exact amount of THC, CBD and others.   Tinctures  Tinctures (ethanol-alcohol extracts) were the most common preparation of medical marijuana in the United States before prohibition in 1937.  A dose consists of a few drops placed under the tongue, the tincture is then absorbed directly into the bloodstream.  Tinctures can be used in Cannabis Cooking as well, just add it to the butter or oil in the recipe. .   420 EvaluationsOnline:  If you want to buy quality lab tested weed or oil, you need to have a 420 recommendation to use medical marijuana to treat your conditions or symptoms from a licensed Californian doctor.    Click here to apply - the process takes a few minutes. DABBING CANNABIS OIL - IS IT THE WAY TO GO?

Dabbing is a potent drug delivery system where vaporized cannabis oil, waxy extracts or other derivatives are inhaled for either recreational use or medicinal benefit.   Traditional consumption of marijuana involves smoking the herb in a hand-rolled cigarette or some kind of pipe.  More recently, edible Cannabis products have become popular.  Now, a whole "new" way to conveniently administer Cannabis was born. But is dabbing a good thing to do?  Are the urban myths about dabbing true or false? How does Dabbing really compare with other routes of administration.   In reality, dabbing is not really a new practice, in fact, it's been around since the 1970s. What's new is its rising popularity, which is probably due to the availability of legal medical marijuana and derivatives. Dabbing Basics   When you dab, you're consuming a vaporized concentrated extract, oil or waxy resin.  These extracts are usually manufactured using a solvent (like butane) that pulls out the herb's oils, terpenes, cannabinoids (THC and CBD) and other components.  Since pesticides can also be pulled out in the solvent extraction process to, you definitely want to use lab tested MMJ products.    In dabbing, the concentrated vapor yields a more potent and rapid delivery over most other methods.  In other words, dabbing will get you get medicated  - big time and in a hurry.   How to Dab Get a blow torch. Preheat an inert surface, like glass or titanium metal. (called the nail) Put a dab of oil or wax on the nail surface and inhale the rising vapor. The vapor can also be drawn through a water pipe, which removes some of the water soluble components. which may or may not be a good thing.   Another variation is to put hash oil or concentrated Cannabis product into a Vap, which essentially does the same thing as the crude, original dab method.   Note: In their "wisdom", some manufacturers use aluminum (melts at 600C) or solder which can vaporize somewhat while you are inhaling.  Aluminum and heavy metal poisoning, therefore are a real issue.  Go with a nail with a high melting point, like titanium, or stainless steel.  Tungsten would be great.  Ceramics without a glaze are nifty components as well. Dabbing by the Numbers Regular joints with street weed generally have a concentration of 15-20%, while hash oil clicks in at 60 to 90%.  It's the difference between wine and whiskey metaphorically speaking. Also, when fools start playing with flammable extraction solvents and using blow torches, you know there is going to be trouble.  This conjecture is borne out in fact, as the LA Drug Enforcement Agency reported 49 explosions related to marijuana administration processes gone wrong. "We saw an emergence of dabs over the last three years, At a minimum, dabs are four times as strong as a joint, and the high is administered all at once." - John Stogner, University Professor   Why Dab? Some of the advantages are obvious.  It is a quick and easy way to medicate. There is little smoke so there is less fear of lung damage. We say fear, because modest marijuana smoking has been shown to actually be beneficial for some types of cancer and asthma. dabbing does not smell like Pot, and you're less likely to offend a neighbor.  dabbing is perfect, If you have a chronic condition, like AIDS or severe pain, you will want strong medicine now and not in a while.  What's bad about Dabbing? If your cannabis oil or wax is extracted sprayed pot and contains residual solvents, like butane, you're going to be medicating and polluting yourself at the same time.  It could easily be a case of one step forward and three steps back.  Butane, for example, is a commonly used solvent and it is very toxic and carcinogenic.  Other crap like pesticides can cause serious damage to the lungs, liver and kidneys.   Another issues is overdose.  Too much THC can cause rapid heartbeat, loss of consciousness, tingling skin sensations, paranoia and hallucinations. THC vulnerable individuals need to dab lab tested high or balanced CBD oil and lay off the street weed.  Wax tends to be high in THC so you want to look at the certificate of analysis to be sure what cannabinoid levels you are really dealing with.   Dabbing is a more expensive way to dose marijuana and it could annoy people that don't like to play around with tools and equipment.  Some people worry that Dabbing might be addictive as it reminds them of cocaine.  The good news is that crime and drug abuse statistics do now show a significant problem in this area.  Of course people with addictive personalities, need to watch it.  We venture to say that sugar addiction is probably a thousand times more likely than a serious dabbing addiction. So stay away from sugar.   How Dabs Are Made - Oil, Shatter, Wax To make a dab, most often the buds are cut into fine pieces and a solvent is used to pull out the active ingredients.  Solvents used include benzene, butane, hexane, methanol, ethanol, petroleum-ether, naphtha, dichloromethane and even petroleum fuels (egad). The solvent is "blown off" or evaporated by a variety of techniques with only the active ingredients, the oil and waxy components remaining.  In some cases, the extracts are filtered to remove things like non-tasty chlorophyll.   You can use carbon dioxide to extract marijuana's active ingredients, and some say that this is the best and least toxic method.  As an analytical chemist, this writer prefers ethanol and vegetable oil extraction techniques over the more complicated and slightly denaturing CO2 process.   "All the solvent components - except ethanol and consumable oils -  should be considered harmful and flammable, and some of them, such as hexane and benzene, may be neurotoxic. Both naphtha and petroleum-ether are considered potential cancer hazards according to their manufacturers. Moreover, products sold as naphtha may contain added impurities which may have serious harmful properties." "As extraction solvents, ethanol and olive oil were shown to perform the best, extracting the full range of terpenes and cannabinoids present in cannabis plant material very efficiently. Additionally these solvents are safe for consumption." - Dr Arno Hazekamp   Suffice it to say, you realize by now that you definitely don't want residual solvents in your Dab.   Words of Wisdom about Dabbing? "As in many electrical devices, most of the individual components are held together by solder. This is concerning because when that heating element begins to warm up the solder, that metal can begin off-gassing. The last thing someone who is conscious of their health wants to be concerned about is inhaling anything other than cannabis vapor.” - blog leafy.com   “Many vaporizers use aluminum heaters, which are perfectly fine, but if any sort of moisture happens to get down into the heating chamber, that metal will begin to oxidize and it can rust. Obviously you don’t want to inhale something that’s rusted.” - blog leafy.com "If you’re vaporizing for health reasons, you want to stay below 365 degrees. One of our major goals was to create a vaporizer that would give consumers that thick, tasty vapor without having to crank the temperature above 365 degrees.”- Shen, marijuana expert of sorts   "I’ve been enjoying the Conversion Stone while smoking out of my bong and the purity and taste of the hit is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced." -  won't say   "Can they make their own concentrate? Yes, legally, It's up to local authorities, cities and towns and counties."  - Postlethwait   "You have to have a very high THC tolerance, we're not really recommending it." - Starbuds   "If there's already a predisposition [to mental illness], putting a concentrated toxic substance into the brain can be dangerous." - Feds, authors of Reefer Madness   "It's not for beginners." - Medicine Man's Nelson   “A powerful, concentrated form of marijuana is quickly gaining popularity along the East Coast—but unlike typical marijuana, it may carry the risk of overdose.” - Hysterical Media   Conclusion Dabbing, especially with a Vap, is an excellent, safe way to medicate lab tested medical marijuana oil extracts, wax and other concentrates.  In fact, Dabbing is a superior dosing technique for those requiring highly potent medication. Those with THC intolerance obviously should not Dabb with common hash oil and seek out lab tested CBD oil.    420 EvaluationsOnline:  In California, it is legal to buy hash oil, concentrates and wax from licensed dispensaries, authorized cooperatives and other legitimate suppliers.  BUT, you must have a Medical Doctor's recommendation to treat your conditions and symptoms.  Here at 420EvaluationsOnline, we specialize in providing quick, legal processing of your recommendation, cultivation, Cannabis ID card applications.  Simply click on this link and spend a few minutes to fill out the application form.  Then, in an hour or so, a doctor will review your file and an electronic version is emailed shortly thereafter.  The process is 100% online and patients do not pay a thing until they get what they want, an approval; to buy, transport, grow and/or possess Medical Marijuana in the State of California.   FURTHER READING BHO Disasters (PLEASE READ IF YOU MAKE MMJ OILS!) - Look before you leap! MMJ DOCTOR THAT TESTED 15,000 POT SAMPLES SPEAKS

Dr. Paul Hornby and the Three Way Split   “My driving force behind all of this is really discovery.” - Dr. Hornby   Content by: Dr. Paul Hornby and Jason Green (QA officer Rtree Producers Ltd.)  Commentary by: Wade Reeves, Analytical Chemist and Medical writer.   Commentary on Dr. Paul Hornby, Notable Cannabis Researcher   Dr. Paul Hornby is a leading cannabis research scientist from Vancouver, Canada. Paul holds a PhD in Human Pathology.    Dr. Hornby's career began traditionally enough, conducting cancer research in the early days, then moved onto a ten year tenure as researcher / manager of herbal testing labs.  About twenty years ago, Paul found his calling in the fascinating and promising world of Marijuana research, discovery and therapy.    In his career as a full-time Cannabis researcher, Paul has gained elaborate hands on experience testing cannabinoids, pesticides, terpenes and other components, has personal dealings in Canadian Marijuana Law at the Federal, Provincial and Municipal levels.  Paul has been active in clinical settings where he assisted several Canadian Cannabis Clubs and their patients.  He also produced unique MMJ products and formulations, cultivated and developed an assortment of strains, among other activities. What a life!   "Having worked closely with a number of local dispensaries in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada over many years, we have come to observe repeatedly the therapeutic effects of different strains of cannabis and related this to cannabinoid profiles." - Dr. Paul   The Three Way Split, Defined Dr. Hornby has found that clinically, MMJ strains generally fall into three categories, a " three-way split": 1 - Strains very high in THC but low in CBD 2 - Strains high in CBD but low in THC 3 - Strains with a 50/50 split between THC and CBD   Case in Point Hayley’s Comet is an example of a "pioneering" strain that dramatically reduced epileptic seizures in a young female epileptic patient.  Dr. Paul wrote a patent application for this 50/50 (THC/CBD) strain.   After trying more than twenty different anti-epileptic medications and still having up to 40 seizures per day, young Hayley finally found relief from cannabis provided fortuitously by a Vancouver cafe. "Since 2008 Hayley has used medical cannabis to reduce her seizure activity dramatically and allows her to live a functioning lifestyle. After trying other CBD cultivars with limited success, Mother Cheryl is concerned that the cannabis provided by Licensed Producers will be inadequate to treat her daughter's condition.   Hayley found one in particular was successful in treating her seizures. Hayley’s Comet is a patented cultivar with a 1:1 THC:CBD ratio that was found, tested and continues to be researched by Dr. Paul Hornby in Vancouver with the intention of making it available to all patients. Licensed producers now offer cultivars with a similar cannabinoid profile, but Cheryl and Hayley, like many other sick patients, simply cannot afford to purchase their medicine at current prices."   - Read more: Hayley's Comet, 1:1 ratio helps epilepsy   Overview Our intent was to confirm the work of earlier molecular geneticists, who postulated a three way split in the ratio of THC to CBD. We say, “it is written” and unless the plant is genetically modified, it will never change. All three chemotypes have enormous medical value in the treatment of a multitude of illnesses. Mixing and matching of extracts of the three can yield a host of valuable medicines.   Abstract Over the past 15 years, our laboratory has observed more than 15,000 cannabinoid profiles by High Pressure Liquid.  Chromatography (HPLC) and, in time, strict patterns in the THC/CBD ratios presented. In terms of these two cannabinoids, the ratio only goes three different ways; high CBD, low THC, as in hemp (Type III); roughly equal THC/CBD, as in strains like Cannatonic Tsunami or Hayley’s Comet (Type II), or high THC/low CBD, as in commercially available (recreational or street) cannabis (Type I); Molecular geneticists have noted this phenomenon in the past but it has not been documented using chromatography.   Introduction In the late 1990’s our laboratory began analyzing cannabinoid profiles in hemp samples as part of the government’s regulatory exercise, to ensure that the THC content was less than 0.3%. Over the years we became more involved with analysis of medical grade cannabis, such as that being distributed by local dispensaries in British Columbia, Canada. At roughly 1,000 samples per year we now have more than 15,000 chromatographic data files of literally hundreds of strains of cannabis that show a very distinct pattern in relation to the ratio of THC to CBD.   As medical cannabis becomes increasingly realized as a valid medicine and more research indicates the value of THC and CBD as important medical actives of the plant, their relevance to efficacy becomes more apparent. The analgesic, antiemetic, anxiolytic, appetite stimulant and psychoactive properties of THC are well characterized, as is the anxiolytic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and non-psychoactive properties of CBD.   As we learn more about the medical benefits of these compounds their relevance to humans and domestic animals becomes more apparent and their market value increases. Thus, it becomes essential to know the expected THC/CBD ratio of a given phenotype before planting a seed or propagating clones. Here, we are simply presenting a pattern that evolved over many years and thousands of HPLC profiles of various types and strains of cannabis. Methods High pressure liquid chromatography, employing a Hewlett-Packard (Agilent) 1090 Series II binary pumping system with a 79883a diode array detector, with primary absorbance at 219 nm, was used in the early years and was upgraded to a new Agilent 1220 for the past four years. Mobile phase at 0.75 ml/min was isocratic with 14% aqueous (1:25:974 phosphoric acid: methanol: distilled water) and 86% organic phase (methanol).   The column was a Zorbax C18 reverse phase 4.6mm x 25 cm. Samples were prepared by the method modified from Health Canada for the preparation of hemp samples for HPLC analysis. Calibration curves were run for a number of commercial standards (Sigma) and averages made. 0.100 gram of dry cannabis was suspended in 10 ml Methanol and placed in a sonicator bath for 3 minutes, then passed through a 0.45micron nylon syringe filter into a 1 ml HPLC sample vial. Under these conditions, suitable chromatography is achieved for the most abundant cannabinoids present. Results and Discussion Only through breeding experiments can the amounts of either THC or CBD be increased, by locating genotypes that tend to express the THCa synthase or CBDa synthase more than others and selecting these plants for more of the compound of interest.   Knowledge of the ratio of THC to CBD does not provide the amount (concentration) of either compound, although the ratios do not vary, one to the other, they will increase or decrease in amounts (simultaneously) depending on environment (growing conditions). Therefore, in order to obtain a plant containing a high cannabidiol count, one would breed plants of the Type III variety, selecting plants that are the largest producers of CBDa and propagating these varieties.   Conversely, growing plants with high THC values would involve crossing plants of the Type I variety, selecting the greatest producers of THCA. And finally the same would be done for what we are calling 50:50 (Type II) strains with roughly equal the THC and CBD, selectively breeding the highest producers in terms of percent THCA and CBDA. The numbering system (Type I-III) is based on the work of Small and Cronquist (2), who describe three chemical phenotypes based on the THCA and CBDA content ratios.   When we describe THC and CBD, we often refer to their acids that are the non-decarboxylated forms of the compounds. For example total THC potential of a given cannabis plant is the sum of the THC plus THC-A, when decarboxylated, the same holding true for CBD.   A similar finding demonstrating the three way split was presented by de Meijers et al. (1) in 2003 who showed three different chemotypes (only) in breeding experiments followed by Gas Chromatographic analysis of cannabinoid profiles in the F1 and F2 generations.  In all cases, they found only three different (Type I-III) chemotypes arising from the various crosses. Our data not directed at any particular endpoint in its collection verifies these genetic studies by the sheer number of data files, verifying time and time again that only three different profiles in terms of CBD and THC ratios exist. It is written.   As de Meijer et al. also pointed out that the putative enzyme synthases employed in the production of THC and CBD are coded from one locus (B) and two alleles B (D) and B (T) that are codominant. It is suggested that such co-dominance is due to the codification by the two alleles for different isoforms of the same synthase enzyme, having different specificity for the conversion of the common precursor cannabigerol into CBD or THC, respectively. The cumulative HPLC data collected over 15 years, assessing numerous varieties of cannabis from British Columbia.   Canada, plus others from California, USA, Spain, UK and China consistently lead to three chemotypes (Type I-III) as proposed by Congrist et al. (2). For example, from roughly 15,000 chromatographic profiles, we never recorded a THC:CBD ratio of 80:20 or 60:40 but only ratios of greater than 75:1 for Type I (high THC, low CBD); an approximate 45:55 ratio for Type II (roughly equal THC:CBD) and a greater than 1:20 for Type III (low THC, high CBD).    A recent personal communication with Dr. Lumir Hanus (Hebrew University in Jerusalem) suggested the existence of a 4th profile, with low THC and low CBD (both less than o.5%), that may not be relevant to human medicine, other than being useful as a placebo in controlled experiments.   Therapeutics The relevance of these profiles to the efficacy of the herbal medicine is becoming evident from recent observational, pilot-clinical and placebo controlled clinical trials where natural product cannabis has been used as an experimental drug or intervention. Our laboratory took part in a study of persons attempting to withdraw from methadone (4), who were members of a local dispensary (Eden, Vancouver, Canada) and who used an oral preparation of Type I cannabis as a standardized oral preparation.   Anecdotal, yet accumulating data is being gathered on a young lady, who's grand mal epileptic seizures have been significantly reduced (from daily to monthly) by ingesting an oral preparation of a Type II variety (roughly equal THC:CBD) and similar findings have been reported for a pre-adolescent female using a Type III (hemp) strain. The importance of CBD in the control of epileptic seizures, convulsions, Dystonia and drug withdrawal is becoming increasingly popularized in the scientific and journalistic media.   Having worked closely with a number of local dispensaries in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada over many years, we have come to observe repeatedly the therapeutic effects of different strains of cannabis and related this to cannabinoid profiles.   Type I strains primarily of the Indica subspecies were used by most persons managing chronic pain. Whereas Type II strain (Hayley’s Comet), proved effective in significantly reducing grand mal epileptic seizures as did Type III, hemp strains, apparently a result of the high CBD to THC ratio. These high cannabidiol strains also appear to be effective in treating inflammatory pain (arthritic), prostate hyperplasia, and breast cancer (3).   Persons with chronic pain Indica subspecies (sedatory) were preferred to the more stimulatory Sativa and would often use the latter as a daytime medicine to focus on daily activities, without the sedative effects of Indicas. Sativas are often preferred for mood, as they tend to counter the effects of ADHD like symptoms, allow mental focus and energy, particularly with standardized oral preparations. Interestingly, similar effects are observed with high CBD only or Type III strains when administered orally.   The difference between Indica and Sativa cannot be closely related to the THC:CBD ratio and we conclude it to be a result of different terpene profiles. Terpenes are strongly inherited and little influenced by environmental factors and, therefore, have been widely used as biochemical markers in chemosystematic studies to characterize plant species, provenances, clones, and hybrids.   Results showed a large variation between different strains in the relative contents for several monoterpenes (α-pinene, camphene, β-pinene, sabinene, Δ-3-carene, α-phellandrene, β-myrcene, α-terpinene, limonene, 1.8-cineole, γ-terpinene, cis-β-ocimene, trans-β-ocimene, α-terpinolene) and one sesquiterpene, β-caryophyllene), many of which have demonstrated medicinal as well as psychoactive properties. Genetic Diversity If the thousands of accumulated HPLC cannabinoid profiles could be overlaid as are a few examples in Figure 1. Only three patterns would emerge (Figure 2).  As a result of a number of breeding experiments between the different Types of cannabis strains we can only conclude that all are the same species (in terms of the ability to produce viable offspring) and they are extremely diverse genetically.   And that difference in strain effects is more a result of different terpene/aromatic profiles than the ratio of THC to CBD. Regardless, we’ve never had a cannabis strain that wouldn’t mate with another, whether Indica, Sativa or Ruderalis or what we call industrial hemp, medicinal or recreational marijuana. They all interbreed, producing viable offspring…our definition of a species.   Conclusions Our intent of this short dissertation was to confirm the work of earlier molecular geneticists, who postulated a three way split in the ratio of THC to CBD. We say, “it is written” and unless the plant is genetically modified, will never change. All three chemotypes have enormous medical value in the treatment of a multitude of illnesses from chronic pain to opiate withdrawal and mixing and matching of extracts of the three can yield a host of valuable medicines. How to Grow Marijuana Indoors at Home - Part II - GROWING YOUR FIRST CROP OF MARIJUANA

Part one of this two part series discusses the important issues involved in getting started. Grower's philosophy, seed selection, environmental requirements and issues, primer on  need-to-know agricultural sciences.    In Part II we move onto the real deal, growing a fine, lush crop of superior Medical Weed. Or at least that's the end game.  For now, we want to grow a health plant that supplies a reasonable quantity of decent bud.  After we can do that, then let's shoot for the stars.   Start your Engine - Get your Pots   Fill several small pots halfway to the top with your chosen organic potting soil. Plant your seeds by making a ½-inch hole in the soil with your pinky and drop a seed in. Don't add fertilizer to the seed.  Don't add fertilizer to the seed.  Did we say don't add fertilizer to the seed?  We emphasize this point because this is the most common way to destroy your seed.    Fertilizer will burn the seed and if you plant grows at all, it will probably be mutated.  Cover the seed in it's hole by burying it gently with soil.  Don't pack the soil tightly. Just put it to bed, like putting a blanket on a baby.  In a week, the sprout will continue germinating and pop it's stem out of the soil while growing several root offshoots.  Your baby is born. You want to keep the soil moist early on.  But don't drown the plant, don't make a mud bath. Use a plant spray bottle to moisten the soil daily.  A plant without water is like a bodybuilder without food.  It is good to avoid placing infant plants directly in front of a fan or beside a heater.  This will cause rapid dehydration, which is bad, bad, bad..  Again, too much water causes the roots to drown and fail to absorb oxygen and carbon dioxide, the other plant foods. Too much water also is a breeding ground for bacteria, mold and fungus.  So if you figure out the difference between moist and wet, then you're in business. AND THEN THERE WAS LIGHT AND IT WAS GOOD   Without a good source of light, it is impossible in theory and in practice to grow a good crop of marijuana.  In so called "vegetative" stage, the first eight weeks of growth, plants need 18 to 24 hours light.   The formula for nature's wonder that is fundamental to the existence of life on the surface of this planet; photosynthesis.  You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand you need supply water, air and sun to a plant and it will produce sugar. The sugar is then synthesized into cellulose or fiber that makes up most of the plant material. From there the plant makes other substances like terpenes, oils, sterols, cannabinoids, THC, CBD and the rest.    To understand exactly how it all works in detail, you actually, really need to be a rocket scientist.  Functionally, all the grower really needs to know is that the plant requires the right nutrition to grow well, not too much and not too little.... and how to adjust the growing conditions - like an alchemist - to produce fat buds, potent in herbal medicine.   Photosynthesis - God's Equation   Water + Carbon Dioxide + Light = Sugar    ---    Sugar + Sugar = Cellulose   A good light source is essential.  We recommend LED lighting for indoor growing.  Each plant can have its own white 5 watt LED bulb placed a few inches above the seedling.  These lamps are very energy efficient and don't give off much heat so dehydration is not an issue - as is the case with other lighting.  So do not use bulbs that get hot.  The ambient temperature should be about 72-78 degrees Fahrenheit.  Don't go hotter or cooler. Don'[t feed the seedlings (add nutrients) until about a week after the seedlings have popped. (broken soil)   "Recent advances in light-emitting diode or LED technology have caught the attention of leading cannabis cultivators.  The lights create energy savings while producing better cannabis, making them ideal for large scale grows or smaller home grows." - www.herb.co When the seedling pops, check that the lighting is a few inches above the plants and see that the soil is moist.  Spraying water on once a day is fine, but twice a day is even better. 7 days after the seeds have popped, and the leaves have just begun to form, you can add nutrients to the soil. Use one quarter of the recommended dose prescribed on the label for a houseplant. Move up to a half dose when the leaves are fully formed.   "The only one (nutrient) that adequately fed my marijuana plants, was easy to use, and didn’t smell like an outhouse…was Iguana Juice." - bigbudsmag.com Having a good start is the key to growing great Pot.  Healthy infants become disease resistant - well bud endowed adults.  If you have good soil, seed and the right conditions, it is very likely your Weed will be very health after 3 weeks of life. Now it's time to watch it grow baby.   When the leaves start to form   Your plants will start to grow rapidly, from 3 to 6 inches per week.  If the leaves look burned, then you've probably applied too much nutrient.  In this case, stop adding nutrients completely. You can transplant your plants into bigger pots when the roots start to grow out the bottom pot-hole.  Rookies however, are advised to plant in a large pot 15 gallon and avoid transplanting, initially. If the pot is not big enough for the root system, the marijuana will stop growing.   If you are comfortable transplanting, a 1 gallon clay pot is idea for raising the seedling.   Triggering the Flowering Cycle   After the "vegetation stage" a plant is usually ready to be triggered (flower, grow buds, then harvest) after 2 months plus or minus a week or two.  The seed supplier can usually provide information regarding expected plant size and keys to harvest optimally.   Once your decide your Herb has developed enough where she can produce ample flowers, it is time to change the lighting schedule from 18-24 hours (on)  down to 12 hours on and 12 hours off.  You can get a timer you plug into the wall socket that sets to 12 hours on and 12 hours off. During this phase, you want to double up the lighting intensity during the half day on phase, but make sure you have complete darkness in the following 12 hours of night.  This scheme is found to produce maxim fruit/bud for most varieties.  Remember to use all LED lighting or you'll dehydrate and overheat the plants.  Not good.      Doubling up on this important growing instruction:   "During the dark cycle, it is extremely important that no light enters the plant space. Any light leaks can disrupt the plant’s flowering and cause stress or confuse the plant, forcing her to hermaphrodite (creating seeded flowers) or severely weaken yield and quality."   When to Harvest   The hardest part of growing weed is knowing the right time to harvest. There is a strong tendency for new growers to harvest too early due to excitement. Premature harvest results in lower yields and potency.  If you're getting too impatient, just pull off a bud that looks "done" and test the potency yourself.  Then wait a few more days and retest.  Observe and take your own notes. In fact, this is probably the best exercise a novice grower can do.  You'll be in touch, up close and personal,  with all the growth phases of the plant.   "The beginning of the harvest window opens when your plant has mostly stopped growing new white "hairs" or pistils and at least 40% of the white hairs have darkened and curled in. Harvest when 50-70% of hairs have darkened for highest levels of THC. Harvest when 70-90% of hairs have darkened for a more calming, anti-anxiety effect as some THC turns to the more relaxing CBN.
