Inflammation and Medical Marijuana

"Inflammation, a natural healing process that too often goes wrong" Dr. W. Rivers

Inflammation is most often seen as the enemy, but it's actually a natural healing process that too often goes wrong - for a variety of reasons.

Inflammation works to protect the body while it heals from injury, disease or other insults.  The problem is if this instinct goes out of control inflammation becomes a treasonous enemy.  Signs of inflammation include; redness, swelling, stiffness, hotness and pain.

“CBD (FOUND IN MEDICAL MARIJUANA) works against pain primarily in the peripheral nervous system (INFLAMMATION).

When injured, the pain is often acute but later disappears completely. Other times pain is persistent or intermittent, but it is still not that big of a deal. However, with many disorders, almost continuous pain is either part of the underlying problem itself (MS, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.) or the pain becomes its own syndrome. In other words, the pain takes on a life of its own, crippling the patient.

In a normal inflammatory process, dead cells, bacteria, toxins and wastes are catabolized - eaten - or removed.  Then, new cells can freely grow to repair the damage.  Genetics play a part as the immune system's various cells produce a somewhat unique response to the various threats and pathogens.

When the immune system goes wrong, it's basically treason, it's like biting your own tongue.   Immune cells system starts attacking and catabolizing non-pathogens, like proteins, tissue and nerves as seen in arthritis, cancer, gum disease, hay fever, allergies, etc.

Marijuana and Inflammation

It's been known for a long, long time that Marijuana reduces inflammation and promotes healing.  Scientists have isolated and identified more than 400 compounds of medicinal interest in the Cannabis plant.  Researchers have found that compounds called Cannabinoids, THC and CBD reduce inflammation and pain in many conditions including: MS, arthritis, gastrointestinal disease, Crohn's disease, hepatitis, to name a few.  THC and CBD work their magic by reducing signals that control immune and inflammatory response by modulating brain and body receptors.

The New Frontier -  ! NEW Non-psychoactive MMJ Strains !

Researchers have been studying non-psychoactive Marijuana components in earnest for quite some time.  Strains are being selectively bred - that afford an abundance of higher concentrations of medicinal compounds such as CBD, terpenes, oils and sterols.  By isolating and concentrating these medicinal compounds, a wealth of new Marijuana based medicines are making their way into the market and into the research laboratory.

"Results indicate that CBD offers a new therapeutic strategy to treat inflammatory bowel diseases." Dr. W. Rivers

"This review findings suggests that cannabidiol may have utility in treating a number of human diseases and disorders of the immune system and inflammation."  Dr. H. Walters

"Our results suggest that CBD, which has recently been approved for the treatment of inflammation, pain, and spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis in humans, may have significant therapeutic benefits against diabetic complications and atherosclerosis." Dr. M. Rajesh

"It does not work like typical pain meds by affecting the central nervous system; it works at the neuro-synapse. (ROOT OF INFLAMMATION PROCESS)"  Dr. Frankel
